Diver Homework

Let's use August to improve our tuck & pike positions.  We need to tighten up both!

Attention Breaststroker/IM'ers

Y'all have a little preseason assignment in August.

Several videos to help y'all correct wide/weak breaststroke kicks are below.

Work on the flexibility portion (SMR) at home (work both sides, of course):

Try either of the kick drills (buoy or band) during lap swim hours:

Either way, let's keep knees no wider than shoulder/hip width.  You can thank me in February...

From Jack Bauerle

via Swimming World
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Jack Bauerle's points of emphasis for long IM training/racing:
  • High pain tolerance does not just happen, it has to be worked for.
  • Speed into walls equals speed out of walls.
  • Fly - Breathe
  • Back - Tempo
  • Breast - Build
  • Free - 6 beat kick and finish
  • Even splitting the strokes
  • Have to be willing to work on hard stroke.
  • IM work in practice with double and triple pullouts to build air capacity when tired (distance off walls).
  • Yardage swum in IM and transition kick sets.

NCAA-Bound? NAIA?

If you're thinking about swimming/diving after high school, you'll need to start the process by registering with the NCAA and/or NAIA.

Links have been added (right) to help you get started.

Once you've taken care of the initial paperwork, let me know so we can start contacting schools you're interested in.
