News

Former Blackcat AD Lupe Florez has passed away.  Coach Florez was a tremendous supporter of our swimming program.  He will be greatly missed.

The 2014-15 season ended without a team or coach.  Bay City HS was not present for the 2015 district championships.  Coach Florez made certain that Bay City would have a team the following year, bringing yours truly out of retirement and expressing 100% support for BCHS swimming & diving.

He also allowed us to add a junior high program.  Lupe attended our district meet in Victoria as a volunteer timer.  He was genuinely impressed with our kids at that meet - one in which we had a freshman, Hannah Sliva, win the 500 free.

A memorial service is schedule for Saturday, December 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.:

National Hall SPJST Lodge 92
3316 Roberts Cut-Off Rd.
Fort Worth, TX  76114

Cards & condolences to:

The Lupe Florez Family
13861 Raceway Dr., Apt. 1422

I've been trying to shake an illness for past couple of weeks - I'm at around 80% right now.

Was unable to open gate this a.m.  I let Kelly & Mark know the code wasn't working.  Hoping we'll be able to get in this afternoon.

Note evening workout times will change in December.

Exam week practices are "TBA" on schedule.  I'll update those soon.

Thanks to all who contributed to our meet concessions.  Special thanks to Ashton R and Mrs. Flores for operating it!

Thanks to the concession stands and the relay meet entry checks, our activity fund balance is excellent.  We should be able to fund our January travel trip without any problem.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Travel info for Friday's meet is ready, so athletes should pick up a copy at the pool.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We finished 7th in our meet Saturday on only four (4) swims.  We didn't have much in the line of "quantity", but had plenty of "quality".  Jomar B, Lucie F, Victoria S, and Genaro F combined for:
  • 1st - Mixed 500 yard Freestyle Crescendo
  • 1st - Mixed 400 yard Freestyle
  • 2nd - Mixed 200 yard Medley
  • 2nd - Mixed 200 yard Freestyle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since cooler weather is forecast for early next week, we should put on tarps after Saturday morning's practice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Aquacats are hosting a meet Friday.  Next week we'll take over the breezeway and get all our dry-land equipment set up.

Relay Meet Week

Splash-n-Dash Winners Victoria S & Genaro F

We had some excellent performances in Friday's Time Trials/Splash-n-Dash.

Let's build on those swims and keep training CONSISTENTLY!

We have enough water.  I went to HEB for pickles, Ziplocs, nacho cheese, jalapenos, napkins, and foam bowls today.

In addition to helpers, we're going to need:

Powerade
Soda
Nacho Chips
Crock Pots & Liners
Paper Towels
Chili (?)
Other (?)

I will take care of ice, coolers, and change for the money box.

Kim Sliva went above and beyond in heading up our El Campo football game concession stand.

Can we get another parent volunteer to step in and take charge of the BC Relay meet concessions?
