Relay Meet Helpers
Volunteers,
We'll need "All Hands on Deck" at tomorrow's Bay City Relay Invite!
We expect an eight-school meet which means we will have our hands full staffing our concession stand, handling timing duties, and scoring the meet.
Please help us out.
Athletes should report by 8:00 a.m. so we can remove tarps, set up chairs/scorer table, line out timer watches/clipboards/sheets, etc.
A few volunteers can help us out around 8:30 a.m. with concession/coaches' hospitality set-up.
If timers can report by 9:45 a.m., we'll get them situated so we can get the meet started on time at 10:00 a.m.
Since there's a parade in town, being a little on the early side might work out best!
If all goes as planned, we expect the meet to wrap up around noon.

Heater Update & Wednesday Changes
The pool heater has been down for a while. We managed to survive practice yesterday, but last night's overnight low means we'll not swim today.
Progressive (Houston company contracted by City of Bay City for pool repairs) pulled the heater circulating pump on October 7.
They had told Mark it was expected to be back last week.
Yesterday they texted him that they were waiting on parts, then said it would need to be replaced and that they'd be here Thursday.

Notes & Reminders
Thursday is cross country district championships and I have an out-of-town doctor appointment that afternoon, so neither coach will be available. I plan to be back in time for club practice, so a 5:00-7:00 p.m. workout will be optional that day.
Mark says Progressive (company the City of Bay City contracts for pool maintenance) is working on the pool heater circulation pump and expects it back sometime this week. We continue to be at the mercy of others - and the weather. Covering the pool now would not allow us the daytime gains that offset the nighttime losses - unless we had a city crew to uncover the pool each morning...

Notes & Reminders
Our plan to use the Homeroom Enrichment Period for a Swim Video Review Session was nixed, so I instead created a Backgammon Session. When I saw sport after sport listed with their own sessions, I immediately asked why ours had not been allowed! OOPS! Their mistake! We will be allowed to have our Swim Enrichment Session in the next go-round.
Since our athletes' dry-land clothes are at the pool now, we're going to issue another set this week to keep in athletic lockers on campus. Whether we're at the pool or on campus during 8th period, the expectation is that all will suit out and participate. This is how athletes will be graded for the class.
Practice attendance is important! Check handbooks and note that 90% practice attendance is one requirement for lettering.
We invited several teams to join us Wednesday for a joint practice and early season Time Trials. Parents who volunteered to help out with Home Meet Operations can support us by running stopwatches and recording times for the event.
This will not be a "take off early from work & rush to the pool" type event, but we would appreciate any help y'all can provide.
Saturday, we used a combination of parents and athletes to time and that's standard procedure for an exhibition-type meet like Time Trials.
When we put this practice/TT together last spring, it was met with enthusiasm...in recent days, we've gotten word from a few that they won't be attending. Haven't heard from the others:
