Monday Practice & Short Quiz


As shown in your handbook, we will practice Monday morning:

Dry-land 8:00 – 8:45 a.m., Swim 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

Please arrive EARLY and be ready to START at 8:00!

We'll discuss your answers to the following questions during the dry-land session Monday:


1. Name the two (2) "long axis" strokes.

2. Name the two (2) "short axis" strokes.

3. How long should a set of 12 x 50's @ 1:05 take?

4. Which of the four (4) competitive strokes was most recently "invented"?

5. Who holds the world record for the women's 1500 LCM freestyle?

Take advantage of the opportunity by:

  • choosing two (2) things you saw today that need changing,
  • working on improving both each day,
  • thinking about them from the start of warm-up to the end of warm-down,
  • asking for feedback from coaches & teammates,
  • giving feedback to teammates, and
  • doing this for at least two (2) weeks.

No Breath-Holding Contests!



We talked about the dangers this morning.  While it's very important that we do some breath-control work in our sport, we're not going to have underwater breath-holding contests.  Read about the most recent tragedy here.

Dana Vollmer - Butterfly


Dana Vollmer swam for Granbury HS and Fort Worth Aquatics Swim Team (FAST) before leaving Texas to swim for both Florida and California in college.  She has set multiple world records and won several Olympic gold medals.
