Notes & Reminders

Once Again:

If you are having issues with equipment (paddles, snorkels, etc.) or other items (suit ties, goggle straps, dry-land clothes, caps, etc.), let's get that taken care of BEFORE practice.  Try to give me or a teammate a heads up so we can help you out.  We have plenty of options - don't wait until we're starting a set to say something!

Taking care of business in the classroom helps you and your teammates.  Don't put off school work until it becomes an emergency and "forces" you to miss practices!  Be proactive - turn off your phone, pay attention in class, do assignments ahead of time, get help ahead of time, study for tests/quizzes, etc.  When you're not at practice, you're not improving...and you might not be traveling to the next meet...

New:

Remember, Friday's Turkey Bowl meet is off the schedule - our next meet is the December Brazosport Invite.

Friday we have an early dismissal and football playoff game in Humble.  We will  not practice Friday.

Saturday morning we will practice from 7 to 9 a.m.  Please be early to pull tarps so we can splash at 7.

Last Call:  If you know of athletes who are a) strong academically, b) have all paperwork on file, c) have previous swimming experience, d) desire a chance to contribute, e) will attend practice daily, & f) would be a good fit with our program, let them know it's time to get their swim on ASAP.

Yes, if there are student/athletes who fit the bill, invite them to practice!

No, do not recruit/beg anyone to swim who isn't sure they want to be out there with you!

We travel to the region facility this Saturday for a relay-only meet.  Travel info should be ready Wednesday.  This could be a long meet, so plan accordingly.

Also, as part of our entry fee for Saturday's meet, we'll be bringing a food box to contribute to the Lamar H.S. swim program's Thanksgiving food drive.  Please bring a few non-perishable items to the pool this week.

There will be plenty going on Friday:

It will be Veterans Day.  BCHS has a plan to celebrate Veterans Friday.

We will have a football playoff game in Houston, so there may be a pep rally.

Some schools allow for an early dismissal when there's a long distance to travel for playoff games.  I am NOT saying that will be the case!

What I AM saying is:  We will not practice Friday afternoon.
