Important Announcements

Tryouts & Paperwork

Earlier in the week, we had a good number of our kids show up to the pool for tryouts.  Where have the rest of y'all been?

If you've not yet done so, PLEASE get up to the pool today or tomorrow and get in the water for a few minutes.

Let me be blunt:  We need to know who is serious about swimming/diving this year and who isn't.  Our athletic director, coordinators, trainer, and coaches are working this week to purge from the athletic period rosters anyone who isn't going to be an active participant in at least one (1) sport this school year.

By having your paperwork completed and showing up for a brief try-out, you'll be showing us you're on board with the BCHS athletic program(s).

Thanks to our athletes who turned in all their paperwork yesterday.  Many still have issues to correct in RankOne, though.  PLEASE get all of that taken care of today or tomorrow!

Meetings

Our high school swim/dive athlete meeting will be Tuesday, September 3, and 7:00 a.m. in Room B228.  If you need a morning pass to attend, please drop by B207 or B228 to pick one up.

I've checked with Mr. Longoria and marching band members will be able to attend the meeting.  We're going to keep it short.

Our high school swim/dive parent meeting will also take place on Tuesday.  We'll meet at 6:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

Our junior high athlete and parent meeting will be in October.  Date/time TBD.

Equipment

The city is gutting the small male staff restroom and converting it into a storage area for us.  Yay!!

We'll be able to keep our "stuff" at the pool year-round from here on out.

Athletes still in possession of "wheels" and anti-paddles need to get those turned in ASAP.  These are personal items I will continue to share with both our club and BCISD athletes - just need to get them up to the pool in time to start practices in September.

Athletic Period

Y'all are athletes.  Enter and exit the building through the same doors as all athletes...PERIOD!

Today (Thursday), we'll meet in the gym and try to get our guys lined out with locks, lockers, and clothes.

Tomorrow (Friday), we'll meet in B228 for video.  If you still owe paperwork, that is the deadline.

Next week, plan to dress out (Tuesday - Friday) for dry-land during athletic period.  Let's get into and out of the locker rooms quickly.

BCHS Swim/Dive Tryouts

We'll hold tryouts for the 2019-20 Blackcat Swim/Dive team during the week of August 26.

Tryout times/days are flexible:
  • Choose any day (Monday through Friday) to swim,
  • expect to swim for about ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes, &
  • try out anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Athletes returning from the 2018-19 squad will choose between a few set options.

New athletes will be asked to perform at least two (2) of the four (4) competitive strokes for distances of 25 yards.
